Mrs. Dotun Akande’s journey into the world of developmental disorders in children started with her son, now recovered from autism. Like many other parents, she was not familiar with the condition and her exposure was limited to what she had seen on television or in films. Her experience with the non-availability of educational resources prompted the establishment of Patrick Speech and Languages Centre (Patricks) in September 2006. Patricks is the pioneer special needs Centre in Nigeria for the education of children with Autism. The Centre offers services such as speech therapy, occupational therapy and behavioral therapy. Also the Centre offers social skills building and play therapy. Mrs. Akande is a mother of 3 and holds a Bsc degree in Economics from the University of Ado Ekiti. She has over 12 years banking experience before her switch into the world of developmental disability. Over the years she has attended numerous training programmes on Autism and other developmental disorders at various international institutions including National Autistic Society (NAS) UK, Geneva Centre for Autism, Canada, Western Psychological Services, USA and the Discovery Initiative, South Africa. She holds a diploma in Applied Behavioral Analysis from Florida Institute of Technology. She regularly gives lectures on Autism and is a strong advocate for Autism awareness in Nigeria.

Eniola has worked with children on the Autism Spectrum for over 5 years. Since qualifying as a speech and language therapist, she has worked with children who have varying language and communication impairments. She currently works as consultant at Patrick Speech and Languages centre.
Areas of Interest: Language and communication in Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) and other developmental disorders; phonological delay/disorders in children.
Mr. Yinusa Abidemi is a graduate of Economics from Lagos State University. He also holds a diploma in Child Psychology from Stonebridge College, United Kingdom. He obtained his postgraduate diploma in Education from National Open University and is a Certified Autism Specialist from International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standard. He has attended various training programmes on the different aspects of Autism since 2007 including behavior, speech, sensory integration, occupational therapy, social skill building, attention deficit disorder, play therapy and cognitive development.
Bidemi has worked with children living with Autism and other related disabilities for over 10 years. He is currently the Head of School at Patrick Speech and Languages Centre.
Mr. Gbenga Kehinde is a graduate of Music / Learning disability from Federal College of Education (Special) Oyo. He has been certified to work in the field of autism from International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards (IBCCES).
He has developed talents in some of the children living with Autism, in areas such as playing of musical instruments and body movement. He is presently working at Patrick Speech and Languages Centre as a Music Therapist for over 7 years.

Oluwatosin Faramade Ibimidu is a graduate of Psychology from the University of Lagos, Akoka Lagos, Nigeria. She also holds a masters degree in Clinical Psychology from the same institution in the year 2011. She has been certified to work in the field of Autism from the International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards (IBCCES).
Her career as a young, vibrant and dedicated psychologist has lasted for about seven years to date. She eventually earned her spot as a psychologist working with Patrick Speech and Languages Centre. A job she presently does with passion and enthusiasm, she considers working with children with special needs as a lifestyle. She currently resides in Lagos with her husband (Victor), a guidance counselor with young adults.
Mr Benneth Edeh (DipOT) is an Occupational Therapist. He earned DipOT from Federal School of Occupational Therapy Lagos. Mr Benneth’s professional expertise focuses on Sensory Integration Therapy/Occupational Therapy for children & adolescents that present with sensory integration disorder and/or challenges on occupation of being a child (self-care, educational activities and play)
He has wide connection with other international occupational therapists and organizations. He has written many articles published on ‘OT Insight’, a magazine of Occupational Therapy Newzealand.
For 7 years now, he has carved a unique niche in assessing and engaging children on sensory diet and occupation- based activities, capable of promoting performance components – sensor motor, cognitive, and psychosocial skills, performance components – sensor motor, cognitive, and psychosocial skills.

Ojo Oluwatoyin Modupe holds a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology from University Of Lagos, Akoka Lagos. She has been certified to work in the field of autism from International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards (IBCCES).
She has extensive working experience since 2007 with children and those with special needs. Having had an earlier academic qualification in NCE [Accounting Education], she proceeded for her B.Sc in Psychology of the University Of Lagos.
She is friendly, passionate, agile and inquisitive which are the primary skills required for her job.
She is presently working with children with special needs at Patrick Speech and Languages Centre.
She has attended several seminars to better her skills at handling children with special needs.
Dr Gbemisola Boyede was born and raised in Lagos, Nigeria. She did her undergraduate medical training at the College of Medicine in the University of Lagos, and was awarded the MBBS degree in 2002. She had her internship and residency training in Paediatrics at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital and became a Fellow of the West African College of Physicians, Faculty of Paediatrics (FWACP(Paed), in 2011.
In 2012, driven by her passion to care for children with special needs and disabilities coupled with the lack of services for such children in Nigeria; she proceeded to South Africa to do sub-specialty training in Developmental Paediatrics at the Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital/University of Cape Town, Cape Town, South Africa. She obtained the Subspecialty Fellowship in Developmental Paediatrics of the College of Paediatricians of the Colleges of Medicine of South Africa, FSDP(SA) in May 2015. She also has a Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.) degree in Developmental Paediatrics (with distinction in thesis), from the University of Cape Town.
Dr Gbemisola Boyede is actively involved in academic and clinical research, and has published papers in international journals. Her research interests include cognitive functioning, developmental assessments in resource-poor setting, Autism Spectrum Disorders, development in HIV-infected children among others. She is a member of many professional bodies and associations including the International Child Neurology Association, African Child Neurology Association, Paediatric Association of Nigeria, Child Neurology Society of Nigeria, Paediatric Neurology and Developmental Association of Southern Africa.
